Concert for Autism

Josh Heinz, singer/songwriter/guitarist, is announcing the 6th Annual Concert for Autism. The concert will include performances by local bands and musicians including: The Agents, Waxy, Parosella, Mighty Jack, The Hellions, Bobby Nichols Band, Giselle Woo, Michael Keeth, Johnny Elsewhere, Chris Long and Heinz's own band, Blasting Echo. Sound and production will be provided by DJ Ray Phillips, CYM Lighting and T&S Rigging. Autism is an issue that hits close to home for Heinz and his bandmates - guitarist Jeff Fortson, drummer Mondo Flores and keyboardist Linda Lemke. Each has a son with Autism.
The concert will be at The Hood in Palm Desert on Saturday, May 11th. The concert is from 5:00pm to 10:00pm on an outside stage in the parking lot of The Hood and will finish inside The Hood from 10:00 till 1:00am. It is all ages until 10pm and 21 and up after. The Hood is located at 73850 HWY 111. A suggested donation of $10.00 will be collected for the cause at the door, and donations will be accepted throughout the night. There will also be silent auctions and raffles with items donated by several area businesses. Participating businesses include Musician‘s Outlet, Record Alley, Sprouts, Trader Joe’s, Outback Steakhouse, Flemings Steakhouse, Ernie Ball, My Gym, and many more to be announced soon.
The proceeds from this event will be donated to the Lumpy’s Foundation for Autism and the Coachella Valley Autism Society. These organizations provide financial assistance to families with autistic children so they may afford vital therapies, programs and activities.
Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life and affects a person’s ability to communicate and interact with others. The Centers for Disease Control now estimates that Autism now occurs in 1 out of every 50 children.
