Harrison House Music & Arts is pleased to present an evening of experimental music with Eric Byers & Sadie Siegel on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 7pm.
Eric Byers will be performing his own music for solo cello. Using a computer to sample himself, he weaves multiple parts together to create a virtual ensemble. Although the scores for his music are composed beforehand, there is no preexisting recorded material and every sound is sampled live during the performance. Byers’ music has been described as “enveloping and soaring” as well as “cinematic.”
Sadie Siegel will begin the evening by crafting soundscapes according to the interior space, exploring the architectural limits and the social context of the performance.
Eric Byers has been a member of the L.A. based Calder Quartet since 1998. He has toured extensively with the group while maintaining a solo practice of composition and performance. Byers’ recent work focuses on creating multi-dimensional cello pieces which immerse the audience in atmospheric sound.
Sadie Siegel is a self-taught musician who trained as a visual artist and architect. Her work often attempts to straddle the boundaries between performance and sculpture, situationist sound and song structures, and aims to disrupt conventional stagings of music.
