Description:

The Desert Rose Playhouse, the Valley’s live stage company serving the LGBT community, will present its final production of our 2012/13 Season, popular stage and film actor David Pevsner starring in his new solo musical show “Musical Comedy Whore” at The Commissary in Rancho Mirage. The show will open on May 17, 2013, for a five-week run closing on June 16, 2013.

David Pevsner is one of the writers of the hit revue “Naked Boys Singing”. He was in “Fiddler on the Roof” on Broadway and performed in the long-running Off-Broadway shows “When Pigs Fly” and “Party” in New York and Los Angeles. His film work includes “Scrooge and Marley”, “Joshua Tree 1951: A Portrait of James Dean” and “Role/Play”. He’s performed in several popular television series including “Modern Family” and starred in the Internet series “Old Dogs & New Tricks”.

As a writer and performer, Pevsner has never shied away from sensitive, risqué, or outrageous subject matter. In “Musical Comedy Whore”, he opens up with remarkable wit and shamelessness into some intensely intimate sexual milestones, all leading to a life choice that set him on a difficult, emotional, and often hilarious road to the ultimate acceptance...himself. With great honesty, surprising introspection, and a lot of witty tunes, “Musical Comedy Whore” is a performance unlike any you have experienced. Due to the subject matter, this production is recommended for mature audiences. “Musical Comedy Whore” is directed by Randy Brenner and accompanied by Patrick Karst.

Sex, Secrets, and Show Tunes – “Musical Comedy Whore” is a wild, funny and thoughtful journey with a gifted and versatile performer and playwright. Jim Strait, DRP Artistic Director says, “You’ll have a ball!!”

The Desert Rose Playhouse is a project of Desert Rose Productions, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit corporation. “Musical Comedy Whore” continues Desert Rose Productions’ mission to produce and present literate, relevant and entertaining plays and musicals to LGBT and Gay-Friendly theatregoers in the Coachella Valley.

Performances are Friday and Saturdays at 8 PM, Sundays at 2 PM.
