Map and Compass for Families
Learning to read a compass and map can be a fun and exciting experience for children. The compass, a navigational tool used to find direction, is a simple object that even young children can become proficient at using. A variety of real-life exercises that involve map-reading and problem-solving skills can help children develop an understanding of how the compass and map can be a useful everyday tool. By incorporating movement and games into the practice, children will quickly gain enthusiasm for their new skills. Bring snacks, a lunch and water, a day pack, comfortable shoes, sunscreen and hat, and an open mind for learning in the Joshua Tree National Park!
This is a half-day course for children from 8 – 13 years accompanied with their parent, grandparent or guardian. Field trip material correlates with grade level science standards and will support your child’s science education.Visit Event Website for More Info
