The Art of Visual Literacy; literacy is usually about learning to read and write, but visual literacy is about learning to see! Join Michael Murillo, who will introduce you to the art of visual literacy! Learn to see the park and your environment, not as a passive viewer, but by being fully engaged and participating in your visual world as a perceptual viewer utilizing your conceptual insight. The difference between perceptual and conceptual is that perceptual is relating to perception, what you see, while conceptual is more about relating to concepts or mental conception; existing in the imagination. Learn to develop your perceptual skills not only to enhance your art but also to enrich your life experience with nature and the visual world around you. What you know will often have a profound effect on what you see and how you see it, learning how to analyze and be aware of your visual biases will help lead you to becoming a more fully engaged perceptual viewer.
