SPIRIT OF THE KING - SEASON FINALE & AWARDS SHOW
DATE: 6 P.M. June 22, 2013, Spa Resort Casino
The SPIRIT OF THE KING AND STAR STEVE CONNOLLY celebrate THE 1960’S GLORY DAYS OF PALM SPRINGS, the “playground of the stars”, amazing songs and an unforgettable art creation--right before your eyes—of the King, in the Grand Finale performance of our 2013 season. Joining in the summer fun will be honored guest Mayor Stephen Pougnet.
In the words of one Palm Springs writer, SPIRIT star and high performance artist Steve Connolly will once again transform the show into a multi-media “mind blowing performance of Elvis’ music and singing, while literally creating an original PORTRAIT OF THE KING”, which will be donated to a deserving Palm Springs charity after the show. In the show’s pinnacle moment, Connolly will again pay his touching respects to Palm Springs’ historic blend of film stars and enduring legends, with the chilling ALWAYS ON MY MIND. Connolly’s dazzling physicality—on stage and on the lounge floor—will again permeate his rendition of rock, spirituals, and Elvis classics.
Singer, dancer, actress Cat Lyn Day puts her 3rd generation show biz craft on full display, as she delivers a beautiful remembrance of the one and only MARILYN, including a lasting birthday moment with her Las Palmas neighbor, the King. The always fabulous Fleet Easton pays special tribute to Palm Springs’ own, BOBBY DARIN.
The Spirit Producer Team would like to give back to the fans and charities, who have loyally supported the show in its initial season. Following the show will be the First Annual Spirit of the King awards, which will include a donation to a local charity of one of Connolly’s signature paintings from the Michael Lord Gallery. In addition, “Red Scarves of the King” will be awarded to individuals who have exemplified Elvis’ love of the “Palm Springs Spirit”, during the past year. A portion of the night’s ticket proceeds will also be given to Palm Springs charities.
