Join the Save Saddleback Committee for a moonlight hike and s’mores on Saturday, July 20, at 7:30 p.m.! The 3-mile roundtrip hike will start at the park Campfire Center, and meander among the Joshua Trees and creosote bushes to “Little Butte”- a brief climb with a great view of the Antelope Valley. The hike is moderate along the sandy trail, with a mostly mild slope and an easy walk up the butte. Under the light of the moon, hikers are bound to see desert creatures that come out after the heat of the summer day to forage and socialize.
Afterwards, join State Park Interpreter Jean Rhyne for a "S'mores Workshop" demonstrating techniques to create the perfect s’more! 2-s’more supply packets will be available for $1 each.
Park entrance is $6 per vehicle. Hikers should bring water, a flashlight, layered clothing and hiking shoes. Dogs are not allowed on trails in California State Parks. For more information, call (661) 946-6900 or visit www.SaveSaddelback.org.
