Description:

History of Gold Mining in the Dale District

Historians and miners Jim Wharff and Tom Koch will talk about gold mining in California from 1848 to present. They’ll bring old mining equipment and artifacts to show the various methods used by prospectors. In 1898 during its heyday there were as many as 3,000 miners in the Dale District which is located 15 miles southeast of Twentynine Palms. Join us for this fascinating look at the rush for gold.
