Morongo Basin Historical Society
Whitewater Preserve Field Trip

Description:

Morongo Basin Historical Society

On Friday November 15th we will gather at Covington Park to car pool to visit the Whitewater Preserve.

Naturalist Dawn Boatman will be our host and will share the history of the area which includes the first inhabitants, the Serrano Indians and the Rainbow Fish Hatchery of recent years.

Driving up the canyon leading to the Preserve you can imagine Indian lookouts on the top of the cliffs protecting the tribe from intruders.

Participants can enjoy the day at their own pace. One can hike the trails or look at the exhibits in the lodge after the presentation. Lunch will be available.

Our next trip will be a picnic at Giant Rock in January. All field trips include history plus hand outs with history and historical pictures.

Please call Laurie at 760-363-6681 for more info.
