The weeklong Labor Day Celebration at Azul begins with special portrait presentations to Bella da Ball (August 28th), Rudy de la Mor (August 29th) and Siobhan Velarde (August 31st) and culminating with The WHITEOUT Extravaganza Party (September 1st)!

On Saturday evening, September 1st, portraits of all the entertainers will be unveiled along with performances by Jersey Shore, Sassy Ross, Marina Mac, Carol Kamenis and Charles Herrera, as well as a few surprises! Hosted by Bella da Ball!

Artist James Cesena created The WHITEOUT project in 2010, as an experiment in graphic art. “Everyone is beautiful in their own unique way. This project became an opportunity for me to capture that through my artistic vision”.

James approached Azul with the idea of turning the restaurant into a modern day Brown Derby, celebrating the fabulous entertainers in his own unique style.

"Back in the day, people would aspire to be ‘on the wall’ at The Brown Derby or Sardi’s" said James, artist/owner of The iMiJ Factory. "What better way to celebrate such talented entertainers while tipping our hats to, and creating, a tradition at the best restaurant and lounge in Palm Springs."

Palm Desert, CA – The McCallum Theatre presents the acclaimed Chicago sextet, Wilco, for one performance on Friday, September 28, at 8:00pm.

Wilco is appearing at the McCallum in support of their latest release, the Grammy-nominated The Whole Love. Of the album, All Music says, “Quite simply, this is the work of a great band at the peak of their powers, and The Whole Love is a joy to hear…confirming once again that Wilco is as good a band as America can claim in the 21st century.”

Wilco’s reputation as a live powerhouse continues to grow. The Austin Chronicle says, “Wilco’s new millennial emergence as an avant-garde Americana juggernaut now grooves a newfound equilibrium. Never has this band been so comfortable and confident live… These boys, often in a three-guitar front line (hello Skynyrd), live to make noise…”

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Jeff Tweedy formed Wilco in the mid-1990s. The Whole Love is the third album by the band’s current lineup which solidified in 2004 when guitarist Nels Cline and guitarist/keyboardist Patrick Sansone joined Tweedy, founding bassist John Stirratt, drummer Glenn Kotche and keyboardist Mikael Jorgensen. Together, they released Sky Blue Sky in 2007 and the Grammy-nominated Wilco (The Album) in 2009. Wilco has won Grammy Awards for its 2004 release A Ghost is Born in the Best Alternative Album and Best Recording Package categories. Wilcoʼs Jeff Tweedy won a Grammy award as producer for Mavis Staples 2010 album You Are Not Alone.

Wilco has released 10 studio albums to date, including Mermaid Avenue Volumes 1 & 2, which, in collaboration with British folk singer Billy Bragg, set original music to song lyrics by the truest of American icons, songwriter Woody Guthrie. In 2010 Wilco, in collaboration with the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, created the Solid Sound Festival, a three-day event of music, art, comedy and culture. The festival returns to MASS MoCA in June 2013.

The McCallum Theatre presents Wilco on Friday, September 28, at 8:00pm.
