Award winning writers Ruth Nolan and Deborah P. Kolodji, who have been co-leading desert haiku seminars throughout the Mojave Desert since 2010, will guide participants in the act of creative discovery surrounded by one of the world’s most unique landscapes in this one-day field class. During the class, participants will take brief walks and be introduced to the ecologic and cultural/historical richness of the desert, and will also learn the basics of how to write haiku and other short forms of poetry. Participants will be encouraged to revise and submit poetry at one of the several haiku and desert literary publications. This workshop is open to writers of all levels, from beginning to advanced, and is suitable for ages 14+.
