Enjoy a desert-based writing workshop led by award-winning desert authors/writing instructors, Ruth Nolan, M.F.A. and Brandi Spaethe, M.F.A. at the scenic Desert Studies Center at Soda Lake in the Mojave National Preserve! Participants will draw on the unique desert setting as inspiration to help them develop their creative writing skills. Course includes in‐class writing exercises, guidelines for critique, group and individual feedback, and lots of fun. All levels of writers/beginning writers are welcome! In commemoration with the 50th anniversary of the passage of the Federal Wilderness Act, we’ll also look at selections of desert conservation and wilderness writing by well-known authors as added inspiration for participants to generate their own writing during this weekend. Brief, optional and easy hiking excursions will be offered to further enrich the participants’ experience. Course fees include overnight lodging on Saturday at the Desert Studies Center (dormitory style) and Saturday’s lunch and dinner and Sunday’s breakfast and lunch.
