(Palm Desert, CA) – The College of the Desert Performing Arts department is proud to present a true musical theatre phenomenon, Jekyll & Hyde. The gothic masterpiece attracted legions of loyal fans even before the show began its smash-hit Broadway run.

An evocative tale of the epic battle between good and evil, Jekyll & Hyde is based on Robert Louis Stevenson's classic story about a brilliant doctor whose experiments with human personality create a murderous counterpart. Convinced the cure for his father's mental illness lies in the separation of Man's evil nature from his good, Dr. Henry Jekyll unwittingly unleashes his own dark side, wreaking havoc in the streets of late 19th century London as the savage, maniacal Edward Hyde.

The haunting score features music by Frank Wildhorn (The Scarlet Pimpernel) and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse (Victor/Victoria, Doctor Doolittle, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory). Songs include “Once Upon A Dream”, “This is the Moment”, “Someone Like You”, “Bring on the Men”, “In His Eyes”, and “A New Life”. This COD Performing Arts production is fully staged and features the complete Broadway orchestration.

The talented cast (comprised of numerous DTL award winners and nominees) features Mark Almy as Dr. Henry Jekyll & Edward Hyde, Kaley Smith as Lucy Harris, Natalie Gilbert as Emma Carew, Frank Haggard as John Utterson, and Tim Bruneau as Sir Danvers Carew. Other cast members include: Lou Galvan, Ashton Loyo, Rick Doerfler, Dale Jean Covington, Ramon Martinez, Kelly McDaniel, David Middleton, Stacey Mills, Carrick O’Dowd, Marcos Perez, Jake Phillips, Deborah Rubin, Judi Russo, Rick Schaffner, Vince Urbani, and Raul Valenzuela.

The show is directed and choreographed by Sha Newman. The musical direction is by Darlene Romano.
