"Homesteading: The Free Land Idea"


December 10 “Homesteading: The Free Land Idea” presented by Lorna Shuman, a 25 year veteran of the National Park Service, Education Specialist and former Park Ranger at Homestead National Monument, Beatrice, NE. She will explore how the Homestead Act of 1862 developed in the U.S. from 1862 to 1936 and the effect it had on the land and the people of the U.S. She will touch on the expansion and economic development of the Western frontier and how homesteaders influenced our local history.

Please join the Morongo Basin Historical Society on December 10, 2014 for the 2nd Wednesday Lecture Series held at the Hi-Desert Nature Museum from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Donation is $5.
