Palm Springs, CA - The LGBT Community Center of the Desert, (The Center) is pleased to announce two exciting art classes: Beginning Watercolor and Beginning Oil Painting class.

Watercolors for Beginners, is a six-week course taught by Master Watercolorist George Bailey, that will introduce students to both representational and abstract watercolor techniques. If you've ever wanted to try watercolor, you will learn to create a color palette and use different watercolor methods to create your own paintings. Taught on Mondays from 9 to 11 am, the first class will be held on Monday, September 24, 2012.

Beginning Oil Painting, is a six-week class for those interested in learning to paint with oils, as well as those somewhat experienced in using the medium. Taught by local artist Mark Spicak, the class will cover basic color and color mixing, brushes and brushstrokes, as well as the various grounds and mediums that can be used. In addition, emphasis will be given on painting landscapes using the desert and its light as inspiration. Taught on Tuesdays from 9 to 11 am, the first class will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2012.

Class size for both classes is limited and the cost for each is $50 for members and $80 for non-members. Students will also be expected to purchase their own art supplies from a suggested list. To register for either the Watercolor or Oil class, call The Center at 760-416-7790.

The mission of The LGBT Community Center of the Desert is to enrich the lives of the LGBT community.
