On Oct. 19TH & 20TH public Lantern Light Night Tours & Ghost Hunts will be held at Kern County landmark Silver City Ghost Town in Bodfish. The tours will be hosted by J. Paul Corlew who is curator/director of the site. In the most recent event on Oct 13th, with Pacific Paranormal Investigations Team, batteries were reportedly drained, cameras malfunctioned, iphones acted up and other anomalous activity reportedly occurred including the visible appearance of a full body apparition reportedly seen by Jenna of PPIT. During the lantern tours Corlew (who has lived on site for over two decades) will recount the eerie legends of the valley & focus on the numerous controversial paranormal events & sightings which have reportedly occurred on site.

This will be both a history/mystery tour & interactive ghost hunt with advice, tips & demonstrations from both Corlew & co-hosts Lake Isabella Paranormal Society on the 19th and GRIT Paranormal on the 20th. PPIT’s DiDi DeChellis will also be a special guest investigator with GRIT on Saturday. Corlew who is founder of GRIT Paranormal has taken part in dozens of paranormal investigations since 2006 both on site & off. He has also appeared on Biography Channel’s paranormal series “My Ghost Story” and was also on the online based shows “Haunted Discoveries” & “Extreme Hauntings Live”.

Oct. 19th long time brother and sister paranormal investigators Danny & Kim Flores of Lake Isabella Paranormal Society and their team will co-host. “Their mom Kathy, who is a noted paranormal investigator, moved to Arizona last year and Kim and Danny have carried on LIPS investigations. They were the first paranormal group to investigate Silver City back in 2006 and no one has logged more hours here or produced as much startling evidence as this team. Danny is also a gifted sensitive and Kim is an EVP specialist. Mom Kat is scheduled to appear in October on “My Ghost Story” on Bio HD on a segment that will feature the rest of Silver City’s haunted neighborhood”, said Corlew.

Appearing Oct. 20th GRIT Paranormal which is an acronym for Ghost Research/Rescue

Investigation/Intervention Team will be at Silver City. GRIT was created when J Paul Corlew was contacted by a family whose patriarch had committed suicide in their home in the nearby town of Bodfish in 2011. "The family was frantic as they reported the gentleman's tormented spirit clung to them both physically & mentally. After killing himself with a handgun (he borrowed from his future son-in-law) in the master bedroom of the home where four generations lived he refused to move on. He, according to the family, smothered them in their sleep, lay on top of them while awake & resting, knocked on walls, held their legs, honked the family cars horn and refused to "move on". He appeared in visible form to the children and photographs taken by the family showed the home partially covered in what looked like webs and other photos showed luminosities and eerie mists and faces. The family was desperate for help after contacting valley churches who said they did not “believe in ghosts” and several paranormal groups only to be told ‘We investigate, we don't get rid of unwanted spirits’. I agreed to help." said Corlew. Check out some the amazing photos supplied by the family on facebook (and please “LIKE” the new GRIT page) at and follow on twitter @Gritparanormal.

Corlew will also host lantern event/ghost hunts on Oct. 26th (co-hosts to be announced), and on the 27th (Valley Investigators of the Paranormal will co-host) and Halloween night PPIT’s DeChellis will co-host. These are the last events of the year…no more lantern tours/ghost huts until spring of 2013.

What local historical figure had his grave dug up after his passing and why? Where is his body now? Who was Wormie Annie? What event, witnessed by dozens of individuals during a night tour caused Silver City to be listed as one of the top 15 most haunted sites in the U.S.A.? Why were hundreds of men camped out across the street from the site in the 1890’s? Who was murdered there? What’s with the “grumpy ghost” and in what building has he been reported? What is a little girl’s apparition doing in the jail? What caused all the stage coach crashes nearby? What secrets are there in the mirror in one of the saloons? These and many other questions will be answered during his guided tour.

Attendees who have always wanted to be part of a ghost hunt are welcome to bring cameras & their own ghost hunting gear & join in or they can just observe & enjoy the unique presentation & live investigations. “We have had a lot of visitors in recent lantern tours bringing their own video & still cameras, digital recorders, LED flashlights [reportedly used successfully in communications by blinking on and off unaided] & other devices.”, said Corlew. “It is great when the visitors catch & share evidence live as they have done in recent events, it has been incredible. Recent EVP recordings, startling visitor photographs & a video of the scale allegedly moving by itself & other submitted evidence is posted on Silver City’s facebook page” he said.

Over the last 40 years the Ghost Town has been the location of dozens of alleged sightings of ghostly apparitions by visitors & staff alike. In recent years Silver City has also been investigated by many paranormal groups who reportedly captured evidence of poltergeists, Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP's), anomalous photographs & videos. "Some of these groups have investigated numerous times." said Corlew.

Advance tickets for the Lantern Tours are available by credit card purchase via email or telephone. They will also be on sale at 7:45 each night of the events (cash only) at the gate & the tours will be from 8:00 to 10:00 pm with time afterward for individual exploration of the site & face time with the experts. The ghost town has never turned away a guest at a night tour in its over two decade history. So don’t worry about it being “sold out”. The cost is only $12.00 per person (all ages).
