College of the Desert Theatre Arts presents COD CON
An Entertainment Technology Symposium


Palm Desert, CA—The College of the Desert Theatre Arts department is proud to announce the first ever COD CON, an Entertainment Technology Symposium.

The symposium, on Friday, Nov. 2, will feature a panel discussion of working professionals within the entertainment industry in the areas of makeup, scenic design, and costume design. The open forum discussion is open to students, educators, and community members interested in working in the entertainment industry. Local organizations will also be on hand to highlight industry opportunities throughout the Coachella Valley.

It all begins at 12:30 p.m. on the Palm Desert Campus in Theatre Too. The impressive list of confirmed panelists includes Hollywood Make-up Designer and Artist, Michael Mosher (Titanic, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End); Director, Writer, Producer and Coachella Valley Resident, Christian Sesma (Shoot the Hero, I’m Not Like That No More); Oscar Nominated and Emmy Award Winning Film & Television Writer, Director, and Producer, Fern Fields (Monk, The Facts of Life); Professional Director, Designer, and Production Manager, Margaret Perry (Professor of Theatre Arts, California State University / San Bernardino) and Professional Visual Artist and Scenic Designer, Haibo Yu (Professor of Production & Design, University of California Riverside).

Representatives from several local industry organizations such as IATSE Chapter 707 (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees), the Inland Empire Film Commission, and Palm Springs Women in Film & Television will be providing information at the symposium as well.

Admission is free, but reservations are required as space is limited. A reception is planned after the symposium from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.
