Butoh Dance Workshop
Hiroko Tamano, presented by Harrison House Music & Arts

Harrison House Music & Arts is pleased to present a Butoh Dance Workshop with master teacher and performer, Hiroko Tamano.

Hiroko Tamano is a native of Japan and began dancing at a very early age with Butoh founder, Tatsumi Hijikata. In 1979 Hiroko and her husband Koichi, Hijikata's premiere solo dancer, moved to Berkeley, California and formed the Harupin-ha dance company, which has gone on to be internationally renowned for the depth and impeccable imagination they bring to their productions. I was proud to be amongst their first presenters in America.

After a one-year residency in Japan, Hiroko is now dividing her time between there and the U.S. We are happy to have her return for this one-day event that she is offering in conjunction with her artist residency at Harrison House during which she will begin writing a book about the basics of Butoh.
