A Don't Hug Me Christmas Carol

The finale production of Theatre 29's 2012 season, the quirky musical

comedy, "A DON'T HUG ME CHRISTMAS CAROL", will take the stage for

five weeks beginning November 16th through December 15th.

The musical, the second show of the growingly popular "Don't Hug Me"

franchise, is helmed by the veteran production team of Director Marty

Neider and Musical Director Kathryn Ferguson.

It's Christmas Eve in Bunyan Bay, Minnesota and cantankerous bar

owner Gunner Johnson gets in an argument with his wife, Clara, tells

her he's skipping Christmas, storms out of the bar, goes snowmobiling

across the lake, falls through the ice, and goes into a coma. He

comes back in his dream where he's visited by folk legend, Sven

Yorgensen, who plays the ghost of Christmas past, present, and

future. Sven takes Gunner on a journey similar to that in Charles

Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" only very different and very funndy.

Will Gunner come out of his coma and find redemption with Clara at

The Bunyan? Hilarious music and great fun, don'cha know!

Cast in the role of the grumpy Swede, Gunner Johnson is Rob

Wanless. His long suffering wife, Clara Johnson will be played by

real-life spouse Betty Wanless. Clueless bar patron, Kunute

Gunderson, is Theatre 29 newcomer, Jonathan Fries. Former singing

waitress and the object of Kunute's unreturned affections, Bernice

Lundstrom, will be played by Angelica Miller. Local singing legend

Sven Jorgenson will be played by Charles Harvey.

Boasting a well balanced cast of veteran performers and talented

newcomers, "A DON'T HUG ME CHRISTMAS CAROL" promises to thoroughly

entertain audiences with a vivacious blend of broad comedy,

thoughtful moments and hilarious music, with titles such as "Gunner

Fell Into An Ice Hole", "Grandma Cut the Christmas Cheese" & "The

Wheel is Turning But the Hamster is Dead". This is a family show

guaranteed to provide big laughs to all ages, but the show does have

some light adult innuendo.

"A DON'T HUG ME CHRISTMAS CAROL" will run weekends beginning November

16th through December 15th, 2012, with performances beginning at 7

p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. There also will be a Thursday

performance, at 7 p.m. November 29th and a Sunday matinee, at 2:30

p.m. December 2nd.

Tickets are $12 for regular admission, $10 for seniors and military
