Description:

The City of Twentynine Palms Park and Recreation Department will again present FREE family-friendly movies in Luckie Park on Thursday nights this summer, from June 14 to July 26. Movies begin at 8:30 p.m. and are shown on the north wall of the racquetball court building in Luckie Park, off Utah Trail at Joe Davis Drive.

On June 21, Real Steel, starring Hugh Jackman, is a DreamWorks picture set in the near future, where robot boxing is a top sport and a struggling promoter finds a champion in a discarded robot and a relationship with an 11-year-old son.

On June 28, The Smurfs star in a feature film by Columbia Pictures and tumble from their magical world into New York City, when they are chased out of their village by the evil wizard Gargamel.

July 5 is Dolphin Tale from Warner Bros. Pictures and Alcon Entertainment, starring Harry Connick Jr., Ashley Judd, and Morgan Freeman, the heroic story of the friendship between a boy and a dolphin whose tail was lost in a crab trap.

On July 12, Happy Feet Two brings penguins back to the big screen in a computer-animated family musical film directed by George Miller, produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, and starring Mumble's son, Erik, who is struggling to realize his talents in the Emperor Penguin world.

July 19 is The Adventures of Tin Tin, directed by Stephen Spielberg, with music by John Williams, an Amblin Entertainment computer-animated adventure film based on a series of comic books by Belgian artist Hergé and starring intrepid reporter Tintin and Captain Haddock on a treasure hunt for a sunken ship.

July 26 closes out the series with The Muppets from Walt Disney Pictures, a 2011 release in which three fans help Kermit the Frog and the Muppets reunite to save their old theater from destruction by a greedy oil tycoon.

Movie goers are invited to bring a blanket, lawn chairs, family and friends and enjoy summer Thursday evenings at the movies in Luckie Park. Admission is free, thanks to local sponsors, and concessions are available for snacks and beverages. For more information, contact the Park and Recreation Dept. at (706)367-7562.
